Press This is a bookmarklet built into WordPress, that allows you to grab bits of the web and post them easily to your blog. It’s wonderful!!! If you’re not already using it, find it in Admin > Tools; drag-and-drop the link to your browser’s bookmarks bar, and you’l have a handy button for instant blogging without cut and paste.

The problem is that when I first used, it didn’t work. It gave me a 404 error everytime I clicked on the link. Doing some research on the Internet, I found many solutions that identified the problem but still didn’t work for me. Finally I found one that need.

Edit the below code, where it says DOMAINNAME and enter your domain name, and then copy and paste this code into the bookmarklet:

javascript:var%20d=document,w=window,e=w.getSelection,k=d.getSelection,x=d.selection,s=(e?e():(k)?k():(x?x.createRange().text:0)),f='http://www.DOMAINNAME.com/wp-admin/press-this.php',l=d.location,e=encodeURIComponent,g=f+'?u='+e(l.href.replace(/\//g,'\\/'))+'&t='+e(d.title)+'&s='+e(s)+'&v=2';function%20a(){if(!w.open(g,'t','toolbar=0,resizable=0,scrollbars=1,status=1,width=720,height=570')){l.href=g;}}setTimeout(a,0);void(0);

If this doesn’t work, try reading the original solution that worked for me. You can find it at:

Lately I’ve been re-reading a great book called “The Power of Less”. It’s all about finding the essential and setting limitations.

With those concepts working in my mind, I did a major clean-up of my workspace and only left the essentials visible. Before I used to have 4 computer monitors, which I had reduced down to 2 (laptop, principle monitor) in the past year. I’ve taken it one step further, I’m not back to one monitor, but a 24″ at 1920×1200 resolution. In the future, I’d like to get a 27″ or 30″ monitor but always keep it to just the one.

By keeping it to one, you’re encouraged to keep the windows that you need for the task at hand without being distracted by a whole bunch of other stuff which is possible when you have several monitors and several apps open at the same time.

I’m also applying the “MAC” concept to my PC life, in respect to not maximizing all my program windows. Only expanding them to the size I actually need. When I started doing this I noticed the importance of a good clean, clear virtual desktop and background. I found a great site with very well designed desktops.

http://interfacelift.com/wallpaper_beta/downloads/date/any/

Besides my monitor, I have a keyboard (want to go wireless with that as soon as possible), wireless mouse, phone, and my glass of water. Everything else is clear.

In my work everything is done on the computer, so there is no need for files, or papers, and if I did need that I would probably get one of those paper scanners so all those paper documents became virtual and archived.

I’m a huge fan of limiting to the essentials, and I feel this is a good step in the right direction. At a certain point in my life I was caught up in quantity of work, items, etc… now it’s all about finding the absolute essentials and constantly refining.

Just got an e-mail from Dan Thies about a webinar he will be doing with Andy Jenkins on September 8th. Obviously they’re doing it to collect names for their Private Coaching program however it doesn’t negate the fact that 2 really smart internet marketers are going to be disclosing plenty of techniques and advice for free. I’m not going to miss that type of opportunity.

To signup, go to:
http://gurutherapy.com/webinar/

Notice I didn’t use an affiliate URL, this 100% recommendation, no commissions motivating me to do it. Dan Thies has always been ,one or if not, the internet marketer I respect the most because of his genuine thirst for understanding and dissecting how to rank in search engines.

The below video explains how to test to see if you have the Apache Mod_Rewrite already setup to remove duplicate URLs:
If you can see this, then you might need a Flash Player upgrade or you need to install Flash Player if it's missing. Get Flash Player from Adobe.
» Powered by XHTML Video Embed

Here’s a great site on how to use Apache Mod_Rewrite to automatically rewrite your URLs so it always has “www” before the domain name. Without this, people can access the same content either by going to http://domainname.com/file.html or http://www.domainname.com/file.html which will dilute your linking for that URL. This site gives more information on the importance of it, but believe me it’s IMPORTANT!

This blog exists largely because of a friend I made down at StomperNet Live 8. Her name is Sierra Friend and her web site/blog is www.sierrafriend.com. She’s responsible for getting me connected with my blog hosting company HostGator, and setting up my blog the right way so it gets indexed properly by search engines, eliminating comment spam, and all the other good stuff that makes a blog well-built. If you’re interested in setting up a blog and making it work for you or your business I would highly recommend her. Not only does she know how to set it up right, but she’s by far one of the nicest people I’ve ever met! Go Sierra!

By the way Sierra is also very good at Social Networking, you should follow her on Twitter to keep your finger on the pulse.
